What this policy covers

This policy explains how The Contractor Institute collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our public website, readiness assessment, practice exam, member portal, and administrative services.

Information we collect

We collect information you submit, including your name, email address, optional phone number, contractor classification, experience history, assessment answers, workbook responses, support requests, uploaded documents, and program progress. Payment details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored as full card numbers by the Institute.

How we use information

We use information to evaluate program fit, respond to applications, provide educational and implementation support, activate and operate member accounts, process payments, deliver program communications, improve the service, prevent misuse, and satisfy legal obligations.

Website activity and analytics

We record limited first-party events such as assessment starts and completions, checkout starts, purchases, sign-ins, lesson completion, and support activity. We use these records to operate the service and understand where applicants or members need help. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers.

Service providers and professional referrals

We may share only the information reasonably needed with hosting, authentication, storage, payment, email, and scheduling providers that help operate the service. We do not sell personal information. If you choose to engage an independent attorney, CPA, insurance professional, bookkeeper, or other provider, information is shared with that provider only with your direction or consent.

Retention and security

We keep application, payment, consent, member, and support records for as long as reasonably needed to operate the program, maintain tax and compliance records, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Login codes expire after 10 minutes; member sessions expire or may be revoked. We use access controls, encrypted transport, private document storage, upload restrictions, and activity logging, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to records we must retain by law or for legitimate business purposes. You may unsubscribe from promotional email while continuing to receive essential account and transaction messages.

California privacy requests

California residents may contact us to ask what personal information we maintain and to request correction or deletion where applicable. We will verify the request before acting on it.

Children

The program is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Contact

For privacy questions or requests, email admissions@thecontractorinstitute.com. We may update this policy and will post the revised date on this page.

Scope review

Applicability of the CCPA and other privacy laws depends on business facts and thresholds. Counsel should confirm required notices, retention periods, and request procedures as the Institute grows.
